How To Generate Ssl Certificate Windows

This document covers CSR generation in IIS Manager. You can also order and install SSL/TLS certificates with SSL Manager, SSL.com's free tool for Windows certificate direction.

Time needed:30 minutes.

This how-to will step you through generating a certificate signing asking (CSR) in IIS. These procedures were tested in Windows 10 on IIS ten, but will also work in IIS 7.10 and 8.x.

Start IIS Director.
Get-go IIS Manager. One quick mode to do this is past opening the Run control, and so typing inetmgr and clicking the OK button.
Select server.
Select the server in the Connections pane, on the left side of the window.
Open Server Certificates.
Double-click the Server Certificates icon, located under IIS in the center pane of the window.
Click "Create Certificate Asking."
Click the Create Certificate Request… link, in the Actions pane on the right side of the window.
Enter Distinguished Name Properties.

The Asking Document sorcerer will open up. Fill out the Distinguished Proper name Properties form with the following information:

• Common Name: The hostname that will use the document. This is ordinarily a fully-qualified domain proper noun, like www.mydomain.com, or store.mydomain.com. Y'all can besides use a wildcard, similar *.mydomain.com.
• Organization: The legal name of your company or organization.
• Organizational Unit: The departmental or division name for your group.
• City/locality: The urban center where your company is located.
• State/province: The land where your company is located.
• Country/region: Please use the 2-graphic symbol abridgement for your land.

When you are finished filling out the course, click the Next push button.
Set Cryptographic Service Provider Properties.
Next, fix the Cryptographic Service Provider Backdrop. Use the drop-down menus to select Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider as the cryptographic service provider, and a bit length of 2048 (unless y'all have a reason to fix these to other values). When you are finished, click the Side by side button.
Create file proper name and finish.
Create a file proper name for your CSR, so click the Finish button.
